Annan chairman Phillip Jones has admitted he has genuine fears for the season being wound up early in the lower leagues.
Clubs have even spoken about the possibility of having just 18 games for the campaign in a bid to complete the season.
Mr Jones said: “We are running out of time to fit games in.
“There is a prospect of having no midweek games to complete the season with playing each other just home and away.
“But we are all waiting on the joint response group coming back to us with guidelines, but it looks like March before we can play again and I don’t think there will be fans in the grounds until September.
“At Annan we have played 10 league games where most teams have only played eight. So with it being a 27 game season that leaves us 17 games plus our Scottish Cup tie with Formatine still to play.
“That would involve midweek games nearly every week and that is too much time for part time players to ask from their employers.
“For instance, if we have a midweek game at Brechin or Elgin then we need to leave at 1pm and even at Annan in midweek the boys need to be here early for 6.30pm.
“The employers have been very understanding so far, but it would become a problem if there were midweek games every week.
“We know the Scottish Government are doing the right thing to protect us.
“The problem for us is that we have not got much money left from that £100,000 grant we were given.
“So we have been asking the SFA and SPFL for more information. We last spoke about three weeks ago and one of the good things about the joint response group is that there are government people on the board.”
Annan managed to allow fans in for one match this season, but the Scottish Government announced tighter restrictions later that night.
Mr Jones said: “That cost us about £2,000 – £3,000 to put that game on with all the precautions we had to take.
“We were obviously hoping fans would be back, but that obviously has not happened.
“But it all depends on everything being approved by the Scottish Government.”
