Annan boss Peter Murphy says his players are “excited” for the new season and their Premier Sports Cup fixtures.
The League Two side play their final friendly tomorrow against Atherton Collieries when fans will be admitted to the ground to test Covid-19 restrictions and hopefully pave the way for supporters to file into Galabank for competitive clashes.
Murphy (below) said: “We are really looking forward to having supporters back in the ground and the players are getting excited about the League Cup games that are coming up in the new season.
“We beat Queen of the South 3-2 last weekend in a friendly and got to play a few trialists. Now we have Queens again in the cup group plus Airdrie who will provide tough opposition. Then we play Queen’s Park who we played last season and, of course, Motherwell.
“The players are looking forward to testing themselves against Premiership opposition.”
The Premier Sports Cup kicks off with Annan away to Airdrie on July 10.
And Murphy hopes to have added to his squad by then with another signing.
He added: “There is a trialist we are keen on signing for the new season after impressing in friendlies.
“He is 27 years old and just desperate to step up to senior football.”
