Annan Athletic boss hopes for another wonder weekend against Elgin City

Annan chief Peter Murphy is praying for another wonder weekend as they gear up for a home clash with Elgin City tomorrow.

He steered his side to a 1-0 win last Friday night at Edinburgh City courtesy of an early goal by Tommy Goss.

But the Galabankies look likely to be without Jordan Lowdon who has missed the last few games.

Manager Murphy said: “Jordan is our only real doubt for the game with Elgin.

“But it would be good to get another win this weekend to follow up last week’s good result.

“It was a very comprehensive win against Edinburgh despite the scoreline. Our keeper Greg Fleming made his first and only save late on which could have got them a draw which would’ve been hard to take.

“But at the end we have got a win away from home and a clean sheet, and played well plus. After the weekend’s games, we ended third top of the table which is a good position to be in.”

Elgin were due to play League Two leaders Kelty Hearts on Tuesday night, but the Borough Briggs playing surface was waterlogged following torrential rain.

Murphy is hoping that the lack of match practice for a couple of weeks will strengthen his side’s chances of picking up a valuable three points at Galabank tomorrow afternoon.
