Annan Athletic manager Peter Murphy will be setting off a little bit earlier for his side’s trip to Cowdenbeath this weekend.
The Galabankies only arrived at Cliftonhill 40 minutes before kick off against Albion Rovers due to traffic issues on the road up.
Peter said: “We didn’t arrive until 20 past two so it was a bit of a microwave warm up and we didn’t start well. We also had an issue with the referee and we had to change socks so the preparation wasn’t ideal.”
Murphy’s side took a while to get into a rhythm because of that but were able to win 1-0 thanks to an Iain Anderson goal to keep up their excellent start to the season.
He added: “Albion Rovers got right in our faces and they were on top of us for a while but then I felt we were comfortable before we scored.
“In the second half both teams had half chances and they had a penalty which we felt was harsh but they missed it. We dug deep and battled well to hold out.”
Up next for Annan is a trip to Cowdenbeath who sit in sixth position.
Peter said: “Cowdenbeath work for set pieces with Kris Renton. They’re big on set pieces and will be a tough opponent. We need to make sure we can match the levels we’ve hit recently and keep it up. We’ve made a good start but we need to keep it going.”
