Amanda Harrington face mist

Amanda Harrington is probably the most artistic, transformative tanner in the business.

For years now she has been turning pale and interesting into honeyed and interesting. With ‘Amanda tan’ (as she is known to London and LA’s luckiest and most glamorous women) the golden glow is a by-product — collateral gain, if you like. The real point of her tans is that they make you feel more beautiful. But an appointment with Amanda is very (and rightly) expensive. The absolutely excellent news is that she has launched her own range of peerless products.

The key to the contouring, the luminescence, and the ridiculously flattering nature of the Amanda Harrington protocol is this: a fat, angled, goat hair brush. The magic sauce is in this brush because you don’t rub or mitt or spray; you buff and polish and contour. In a way that looks irreproachably natural. And it takes seconds. You whack on a bit of primer (full of peptide and plumpers), brush on your base colour and then spray a little more tanning mist on to your miraculous brush, and add detail: cheekbones, jawline, thigh definition, cleavage. I do my face most mornings now and it’s properly addictive because — on those days when your face and body just aren’t working — this stuff is a powerful ally.

Face Mist, £28; brushes from £35 (amandaharrington.com)
