Anna Geary gives behind the scenes sneak peek at new season of Ireland's Fittest Family

Anna Geary has given fans of Ireland’s Fittest Family a sneak peek of the new season as filming gets started.

Now in its ninth run, creators of the show have promised that this year will see the competition be more challenging than ever before.

While things will look exactly as viewers will remember from pre-pandemic days, showrunners revealed that there are numerous Covid-19 health measures in place to protect both staff and competitors throughout filming.

In a post on Instagram, Anna - one of the family coaches - confirmed to viewers that production is well underway, writing: "Here we go again...game face about to come out."

In an Instagram post earlier today she also wrote: “@irelandsfittestfamily filming is baaaack!!

“So many new stars among the families… so many new challenges… It’s gonna be a good one.

“What’s your favourite challenge?

“Hang Tough? The Bog? Backs against the Wall? The Ramp?"

She then posted a picture from the depths of a forest this morning as it looks as if the family’s first challenge has begun.

Delighted fans of the show flocked to the post with one writing; “Yay.. Can't wait.. We love IFF.”

Another said; “Looking forward to it already.! Have seen some of the obstacle areas used while walking around Kilruddery.”

This year’s show will be filming right through to September with Davy Fitzgerald, Derval O’Rourke, and Donncha O’Callaghan joining Anna Geary in coaching the participating families while Mairéad Ronan will also resume her role as host of the highly-anticipated new season.

Each year, the competition begins with a group of 15-20 families, all of whom will be put through extreme endurance challenges in new locations around the country, from steep sand dunes to airports to Irish bogs and a 180-metre ski slope.
