Anna Friel's relationship was 'killed in two weeks' of lockdown

Anna Friel has revealed her four-year relationship collapsed in lockdown in just two weeks.

Anna, 44, rose to fame as Beth Jordache in the hit Channel 4 soap and said her relationship broke down as she was forced to spend all her time with her partner.

The actress also predicted that a lot of couples would not last the lockdown due to new stresses and strains that would be put on them

Speaking to You magazine, Anna said: "A relationship I was in for four years broke down after about the first two weeks…"

She went on to say that they quickly became an emotional victim of the pandemic - reports Mirror Online.

Anna said: "When we went into lockdown, I remember thinking: 'God, there’s going to be so many people breaking up during this.'

"While I like to keep my private life incredibly private, I think there’s going to be such a fallout at the end of all this that it’s important to say, 'I’m human, it happens to all of us and it is difficult.'"

While Anna does not name who her former partner is, she has been linked to 42-year-old Regimental Corporal Major Mark Jaworski.

It has been reported that they have been together since meeting at a charity dinner in Windsor..

Jaworski served with the Life Guards Regiment of the Household Cavalry at Combermere Barracks in Windsor, which boasted Princes William and Harry as members of its Blues and Royals section.

He now trains recruits at the Army Training Centre in Pirbright, Surrey.

Anna said that she has spent the time during lockdown to reflect on her life at home with her 15-year-old daughter Gracie, from her relationship with actor David Thewlis.

She continued: "Maybe I’m being more reflective because you don’t normally have time to stop and analyse these things. You just keep moving.

"Now you can really overthink stuff, so nothing feels without worry.

"Even if you’re in a relationship, some of my friends are still suffering from extreme loneliness because they’re used to a life of being busy."

She has also shared her worries about her daughter leaving home at her earliest opportunity, as her 16th birthday is on the horizon.

Anna said: "I’m dreading it. I left home at 16.

"I always joke with Gracie: 'Mummy will get a house for you and I’ll live in the garden. I can help with the grandchildren.'"
