Anna Daly reveals that Rod Stewart liked her suit so much during interview that he bought same outfit for his wife

Weekend AM presenter Anna Daly wore an outfit so well that legendary singer Rod Stewart wanted to gift it to his wife.

Anna was interviewing the “Grace” singer during his brief appearance in Ireland earlier this year and he was completely taken by her fashion choice.

Opting for a snakeskin Mint Velvet suit, the Virgin Media Television star ended up being the style inspiration for Penny Lancaster during the rocker’s wife’s appearance on Loose Women last week.

Anna told the Irish Mirror: “I went to interview him at The Intercontinental Hotel [in Dublin] before he was on The Late Late Show earlier this year.

“I was wearing this snakeskin suit, it sounds dodgier than it is, and he absolutely loved it as I probably knew already- it was his style. He kept saying, ‘I love it, I love it’.

“He asked where I got it from and I thought that he would never remember. After we wrapped up and I was leaving, he said, ‘Remind me of that label again’ and I still thought that he would never remember because I would be the same myself.”

Anna decided to contact the brand herself and have them send Penny the suit because Rod loved it so much: “I walked away and I thought that it would be really smart to tell to label and have them send it on to his wife Penny Lancaster who obviously does the panel on Loose Women on ITV.

“Mint Velvet, the brand, thought it was genius. They found out her size and packaged her up a suit, and they also asked if I would like to put in a note with it which I thought was a really nice idea.”

The whole situation had slipped out of Anna’s mind until Penny posted a picture from the Loose Women set wearing the suit last week.

She also publicly thanked Anna for her generosity: “Thank you @annadaly for arranging this @mintvelvet suit to be sent to me @loosewomen. Love the story of how you were wearing it when you interviewed my husband in Ireland and he wanted the details of it and you went that one step further. Wonderful act of kindness.”

The breakfast TV presenter grew up listening to Rod Stewart because her mam was a big fan.

She joked: “I would say that she is really the big fan. But I do know all of his songs.

“I have seen him in concert and he is like my guilty pleasure.”

Penny was also a big talking point during Anna’s interview with Rod because she is a big inspiration to her.

Anna explained: “I talked to Rob about her and I brought her work into our conversation. He was totally beaming while speaking about her and it is clear that he adores her.

“She recently did a reality TV show for Channel 4 where she joined the police force to shadow them and it really showed another side to somebody like her.”
