Anna Camp uses her own ‘You’ scene to perfectly capture the confusion of being snubbed by Emmy voters

Anna Camp, known for her role in Pitch Perfect, has expressed her disappointment after being overlooked for a 2025 Emmy nomination. Her snub joins a long history of shocking Emmy oversights that have frustrated fans and industry insiders alike. The 42-year-old actress played dual roles as identical twins Raegan and Maddie Lockwood in the fifth and final season of the Netflix series You.

The actress shared her feelings on Instagram following the announcement of Emmy nominations on Tuesday, July 15. She posted a screenshot from a scene in You where her character is shown reading her phone with visible confusion.

Camp used this particular scene to express her current state of mind, writing in the caption about reading the nominations while knowing she “gave one of the best performances” of her life. She added that she was trying to stay happy for others who were nominated, while also remembering her promise to avoid drinking during weekdays.

Support pours in from fans and loved ones following Emmy snub

The post attracted numerous supportive comments from her Instagram followers, who agreed with her assessment of her performance. Camp showed her appreciation by sharing some of these comments in her Instagram Story, adding the caption “I love my followers” along with heart and champagne emojis.

Among those offering support was Camp’s girlfriend, Jade Whipkey, who praised her unique portrayal of twins. Whipkey emphasized that few actors get the opportunity to play twins, and highlighted how Camp’s performance stood out, telling Hollywood to “take notes.”

The Netflix series You, which began its journey on Lifetime in 2018 before moving to Netflix, has never received an Emmy nomination throughout its five-season run. This continues a pattern of Netflix shows being overlooked during awards season despite critical acclaim and popular success. Camp’s performance as the Lockwood twins in the final season would have made her eligible for consideration in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama category.

The Supporting Actress category instead recognized other performers, including Julianne Nicholson from Paradise, Katherine LaNasa from The Pitt, Patricia Arquette from Severance, and several actresses from The White Lotus including Aimee Lou Wood, Carrie Coon, Natasha Rothwell, and Parker Posey.
