Ann Budge is ruining Hearts rebuild by sticking with Craig Levein blasts Michael Stewart

Michael Stewart has savaged Hearts boss Craig Levein once again and told Ann Budge she's ruining her reputation at the club.

The Hearts owner was subjected to boos at half time of her side's 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday with fans growing concerned about where the club is going.

The Tynecastle side haven't won a game at home this season and have picked up just six points from their first eight games.

Their only win came against Hibs in the Edinburgh derby but they sit just two points above St Johnstone at the bottom of the table.

Stewart reckons Levein has been pulling the wool over the eyes of Budge and the Hearts board and it needs to change.

He told BBC Sportsound: "Ann Budge, who I have been critical of lately, has done an unbelievably good job but she is now tarnishing that by just sticking with the status quo.

"When I say Craig Levein has complete control of the club it's because there is nobody in the board who is going to question him.

"Ann Budge did a big interview at the start of the season and said 'I see him on a one-to-one basis and I'll question things: 'Are you serious? Is this really what we're doing?' But while I question it he's always able to explain the bigger picture. It's about who is training best, maybe someone is going through something that means he wasn't playing in the right manner. It's the bigger things that supporters don't know, there are reasons why he plays who he plays in each game'.

"So let me take you to what Craig Levein said after the game because I think this is quite important. As a board, I believe they are bewitched by what Craig Levein is telling them.

"He came out after the game to explain why he didn't play with a striker. He said 'Uche had a tight hamstring on Thursday, he's played three games in a week for the first time in I don't know how long' so he decided on the Friday that he wasn't going to play Uche.

"If he's got a tight hamstring, why would you maybe not put him on the bench as an option to throw on? So it left him with Stevie MacLean or Aidan Keena.

"So you're at home, as I explained, against Kilmarnock. If you're Stevie MacLean, he said he played three games in a week. He's not played three games in a week. He played against Aberdeen, he didn't play against Hibs and then he played against St Mirren which is seven days before. So he played two games the week before.

"Then he's got an international break after this game. So if Stevie MacLean is your only option when you've decided to rest Uche, why not chance Uche or put him on the bench with the international break coming up after it? Instead he goes with Meshino - an attacking midfielder - and Sean Clare as his two attacking players.

"What I'm saying is, if he is telling the board 'that's why I didn't play Ikpeazu and this is why Steven McLean didn't play', well for one - Stevie McLean is nonsense because he didn't play three games in a week and Uche, the reason you're giving about the international break so he can rest? Why don't you play him and then he can rest?

"Also, this other thing about Aidan Keena. He said he is untried and untested at this level. How is he ever going to be tried and tested if you don't have another option and you still don't put him in?

"This is a fundamental issue and the board do not have anybody to counter what he is clearly telling them and I would say the proof is in the pudding because his judgement isn't working. They are sitting two points off bottom."
