Anita Dobson and Millie Gibson - and new look TARDIS spotted as Doctor Who filmed

We might just be putting the festive season behind us - with many still trying to lose the excess pounds - but Christmas is already on the minds of TV shows. It appeared that the production team and some of the stars of a Christmas-themed Dr Who are already getting their filming into the bag.

Anita Dobson and Millie Gibson were spotted filming scenes for the iconic show in the South West on Tuesday. The Tardis phone box was seen being unloaded by the crew in Clifton, Bristol - painted a dark teal colour, rather than the usual vivid blue.

Streets around Clifton have been turned into London’s Notting Hill for the filming. And streets in the area have even had Christmas decorations put up near homes.

Anita Dobson, best known for her EastEnders role as Queen Vic landlady Angie Watts, was spotted on set today. The BBC had earlier announced the star would make a guest appearance in the next season of the science fiction show.

Millie Gibson was spotted too - playing the role of the new companion, alongside the 15th Doctor, played by Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa. She starred as Kelly Neelan in Coronation Street.

The BBC said previously that Doctor Who will return in November 2023 with three special episodes to coincide with the show's 60th anniversary. It will feature returning stars David Tennant (as the Fourteenth Doctor) and Catherine Tate (as Donna Noble).

The Fifteenth Doctor will then take control of the TARDIS, with his first episode airing over the festive period in 2023. Gatwa will be joined by Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday.

Jemma Redgrave will also be returning to Doctor Who for the next season as recurring ally Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, with Peaky Blinders star Aneurin Barnard also announced to play new character Roger ap Gwilliam.

Filming for Dr Who continues in Bristol with Clifton once again doubling up for Notting Hill (SWNS)
