Anisimov's overtime goal lifts Blackhawks to 3-2 win over Devils

NEWARK, N.J. _ The Blackhawks downed the Devils, 3-2, on Friday thanks to an overtime goal from Artem Anisimov.

The Hawks' trouble with the penalty kill continued Friday as they allowed another power-play goal to an opponent. This time, P.A. Parenteau stuffed home a loose puck in front of Corey Crawford at 15:32. The Hawks were just 11 seconds away from killing off a penalty on Marcus Kruger for holding the stick.

The Hawks did kill off their next three penalties.

They got on the board during a power play of their own in the second period when Artemi Panarin sniped home a shot from the left circle at 6:48.

The Devils took the lead early in the third period when John Moore was able to take advantage of a deflected pass from Taylor Hall 4:06 into the third period. This came after the Devils had applied pressure for much of the first two periods and into the third. They had 28 shots through two periods to the Hawks' 12.

The Hawks had trouble generating offense 5-on-5, even with Quenneville putting Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews together on the top line to try and jumpstart Toews.

But the Hawks played a better third period and tied the score during a power-play with a sixth attacker on the ice. Toews drove to the net and passed toward Marian Hossa and Richard Panik, whose sticks simultaneously got to the puck with Hossa getting credit for the goal at 17:49.
