Anime Squadron Tier List – Best Units Ranked

The best characters in Anime Squadron as of June 2026 (Release Version 0.0) are Gometa [SSJ4] (S Tier - amazing self-stacking DPS buffs, quite formidable defensive stats), Woo [Shadow] (S Tier — huge damage and the fastest unit), and Puppeteer [Transcendent] (S Tier - tons of self-buffs, massive DPS and defense, and as a bonus you can grind everything you need for him on one challenge stage).

What Do the Tier Rankings Mean in Our Anime Squadron Tier List?

The Anime Squadron tier list represents the overall power of the units, taking into consideration end-game viability, how well they facilitate faster progression and clear speeds, and whether they slot nicely into full Squadron setups. This tier list does not rank units based on availability/drop rates or how hard units are to obtain in-game (however, it does point out stand-out units that are easier to receive and happen to be high in rank), and serves as an informative list of what characters you should likely invest into for current/future content.

S Tier (6) - Units that you should definitely use at every given opportunity, scaling well into endgame.
A Tier (6) - Units that will be useful from early all the way into endgame, including endgame in some cases.
B Tier (5) - Units that will be useful from early to mid-game
C Tier (6) - Units that you should use only super early, and replace as soon as possible
D Tier (5) - Units that you shouldn't even consider using, unless they're literally the only ones you have

Anime Squadron S Tier

Character & Role	Why This Tier	Suggested Usage
Gometa (SSJ4) Main Damage Dealer	Absolute Top-tier damage dealer due to his stacking Crit chance buff, and the ability dodge and self-heal any time he uses an ability	End-game squad for any content in the game
Puppeteer (Transcendent) Aggro Tank	Gometa has more damage but Puppeteer boasts massive HP regen, and his debuff just gives him more damage. He's also easily grindable as everything you need is available on Katakara Bridge Challenge	End-game squad for any content in the game
Woo (Power) Main Damage Dealer/Speed	Top tier damage, and the fastest unit in the game. Great for speed farming	Speed farming, infinite mode
Shanron (Omega) Sub DPS/Utlity	Amazing utility via crowd control, and due to his Wet status debuff he enables Gometa and other Spark units to deal even more damage	End-game squad for any content in the game

Vegata (SSJ4 Full Power) Sub DPS	Super strong DPS unit, and you really want to invest in him to get Gogeta anyways	Mid-game setups
Goki (SSJ4 Full Power) Sub DPS	Decent DPS, but you really just want to invest in him to get Gogeta	Mid-game setups
Shield Hero Tank/Utility	Good scaling tank that redirects damage to himself, useful in all stages of the game, except the very endgame where Gometa will replace him	Endgame setups all the way up until getting Gometa
Fastwagon Money	The only dedicated money generating unit. Extremely useful early on, and can even be used as filler in endgame setups. The only reason he's not S-tier is that you might not have a good reason to use him later on, as the content isn't that hard yet	Speeding up early to midgame progression by enabling better money generation while you're still upgrading perks
Rudaus Utility/Support	Decently strong support via coodlown reduction to all allies in range. Scales really well in all stages of the game, as any DPS unit can benefit, irrespective of their overall usefulness	Early to mid-game progression, with some usefulness in end-game setup if you need a filler

Anime Squadron B Tier

Big Beard (Father) Tank	Decent early to midgame tank, less tanky than Shield hero but has more damage. Not recommended investing too much into him	Early to mid-game progression
Rizzuto (Sage) Sub DPS	Decent DPS especially for boses, but you're better off investing into other scaling units, like Goki or Vegata	Early to mid-game progression, bosses
Mamosa Utility/Support	Offers a nice protective layer early on with her AoE heal, but doesn't scale too well when damage number get big in the later stages of progression	Early to mid-game progression
Zemitsu DPS	Fairly common unit with some speed to it, good early line clear, however, very quickly overshadowed and not worth much investment	Decent early speed clear unit

Which Characters Should Beginners Choose in Anime Squadron

In general, the characters beginners should use in Anime Squadron depend on whatever you can get your hands on early, but some standouts are:

Zemitsu is quite decent early as he has faster attacks in comparison with the other common pulls
Fastwagon for his amazing money generation (which is a skill unique to him and only him)
Mamosa for her AoE healing capabilities
Rudaus for his AoE cooldown reduction
If you happen to pull Karashi he is well worth investing into for his amazing clear speed
Vegata and Goki are well worth investing into as soon as you get them as you will need them for Gometa which is currently the best unit in the game
If you happen to pull Shield Hero , he will be your top tank up until Gometa.

What changed in version 0.0 (Release) Meta

The main change in Anime Squadron is that version 0.0 sees the release of Puppeteer (which was not available in early access), a top-tier pick for any squadron, but especially if you happen to be running a Nature-heavy squad due to his stacking charge buff (10% per charge). His other unique buffs (5% regen when dropping below 30%, 0.1% permanent extra HP per kill, up to 50%) allow him to stay longer in the lanes, along with some nice damage boosts (25% bonus damage, and every 5th attack applies a debuff on enemies for extra damage). Overall, if you played early access, nothing has changed much, with Puppeteer being a nice addition to the top dogs of the game.
