Animals at Five Sisters Zoo get into the spirit of Halloween

Animals at Five Sisters Zoo at West Calder got into the spirit of Halloween.

The animals enjoyed playing with the specially carved pumpkins staff at the attraction had prepared for them.

The lions, goats, fossas, meerkats and the zoo’s very own red panda - named Rufio - enjoyed some Halloween fun at the weekend as delighted visitors looked on.

And Rufio proved a big hit. One animal lover said on the Zoo’s Facebook page: “You’re missing a trick if you’re not selling Rufio costumes in the shop.”

Earlier this year the zoo announced the return of its popular Christmas Illuminations and FSZ Autumn Nights, which had to be cancelled due to lockdown restrictions last year.

Zoo staff said the winter shows will be “bigger and brighter” than ever before, with display lighting, enchanted walkways, illuminated water fountains and musical lighting shows for families to enjoy.

The Autumn Nights event runs until Sunday, November 14 (every Thursday to Sunday) 6pm to 9pm.
And the zoo Christmas illuminations will return on Wednesday, December 1 and runs until Thursday, December 23 (every Wednesday to Sunday) 5pm to 9pm.
