Animal excrement dumped on car and 'grass' daubed on windscreen as motor trashed in East Kilbride

A car was covered in animal waste and had its tyres slashed when it was trashed on an East Kilbride street.

Police have launched an investigation after the vehicle was targeted and the word 'grass' daubed on the rear windscreen.

The worrying incident on Russell Place in the Westwood area of the town has sparked a police investigation, Lanarkshire Live reports.

Details of the vandal attack went public when pictures were published in social media.

The images also show number plates removed, wing mirrors broken, windows painted and what appears to be the owner's garden damaged.

A nearby resident told Lanarkshire Live: "It's actually nuts. Form what I believe the couple were on holiday and didn't even know what had happened. The car is bad enough but then some of the garden was dug up as well."

Another local wrote: "Saw this this morning on my way to work. Never heard a thing either.

While another added: "I hate with a passion the mentality of those who defend and use the word 'grass' as a retaliation to those righting a wrong."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.45am on Monday, May 16, officers received a report of vandalism to a car and garden on Russell Place in East Kilbride which happened overnight between the Sunday and Monday. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
