Animal Crossing: New Horizons' winter update isn't here yet, but this cozy Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC adds even more Stardew Valley flair to tide me over until Nintendo's release

Disney Dreamlight Valley Wishblossom Ranch.

A brand-new Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC drop is upon us, and it's arrived right on time to tide us cozy game stans over until Animal Crossing: New Horizons gets its surprise winter update – the unexpected 3.0 patch launching in January.

Wishblossom Ranch, as the new Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion is called, is the DLC we horse girlies have been waiting for. Not only does it bring a region for us to explore with the Wishblossom Mountains in tow, but it brings horses – and more importantly, horseback riding – as well. As usual, there are a few fresh faces we can expect to run into while playing through the expansion, including Snow White and Tinker Bell.

They're not the only nostalgia-inducing classic Disney characters to join our Valley, though. There's also the ever-bouncy Tigger and the undeniably fashionable villain Cruella De Vil. On top of the more human and anthropomorphic figures gracing Wishblossom Ranch, a few other equine-inclined icons make an appearance: Tangled steed Maximus, Mulan's Khan, and, last but certainly not least, the noble Pegasus from Hercules.

Gameplay-wise, Wishblossom Ranch follows the familiar cozy formula its predecessors have – with an equestrian twist, of course. We're tasked with helping our new friends reverse a mysterious, destructive phenomenon, the "Decay," completing quests and puzzles along the way. In addition to more typical Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC adventuring, we also get to care for horses (brushing, feeding, betting, etc.) and ride them.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but as someone shamelessly obsessed with Barbie Horse Adventures, this sounds like the perfect way to unwind and wait for more wholesome game goodness come Animal Crossing's winter patch. Plus, the whole ranching aspect adds yet another layer of Stardew Valley-esque vibes to Disney Dreamlight Valley – what more could a farming and life sim-loving girl ask for in 2025?

Overall, fellow fans seem pretty happy with the expansion, too. The Steam page shows it has "Mostly Positive" reviews so far, with one writing it's "the first expansion that actually feels different from the main game." Another player exclaims, "It's already my absolute favorite expansion," citing customizable mounts as why. My personal favorite piece of feedback, though, has to be, "Man, I love horses." Me too, pal. Me too.

If you're as interested as I am, the Wishblossom Ranch DLC starts at $29.99 and is available on all consoles and PC. For a few more cosmetic goodies and extra Moonstones, you can opt for the Deluxe Edition, which sits a bit higher at $49.99.
