On occasion when you're see a villager with three dots over their head to indicate that they're thinking, they may ask to come over to your house. If you agree, you'll immediately return home with them.
During their visit, they can comment on your home decor, give you a little something for having them over, ask you to play a card game with them, and even ask for to be taken on a tour of all of your different rooms. It's all very adorable.
Once they leave, you'll likely hear a little ping not unlike the sound you hear when you help out a villager, which indicates that your bond has deepened. The next day, you may also receive a letter with a gift from your visiting villager to thank you for letting them to spend time at your house.
