Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting two free updates this summer, with the first one adding swimming and diving.
New Horizons first free Summer Update – Wave 1, will be arriving July 3.
The new patch will allow your character to swim around the ocean, meet new characters, dive and collect all new critters.
This update was announced on Twitter by the official Tom Nook account, with a video showing off all the new additions.
In the video, you see your character will be able to just approach the sea and dive right in. The ability to swim has been present in previous Animal Crossing games and all you needed was a wetsuit.
It is currently unclear if you'll need a wetsuit in New Horizons or how you'll get one, or if you can just jump right in and start diving for goodies.
There will be new critters which you can donate to Blathers' museum and, while your down there, you'll encounter more NPC characters.
Pascal, who was featured in the video, seems pretty intent on collecting any scallops you find under the water and will reward you with ocean-themed DIY recipes for you to learn and craft like the Mermaid Dresser.
At the end of the video, there is also a new encounter with Gulliver, the errant seagull who keeps on washing up on your island. Except for this time, he's somehow more confused and wearing a pirate-looking outfit.
The update will go live on July 3, with another free summer update teased to be coming in early August.
