Angus Kinnear's tribute to the unsung heroes delivering Leeds United's 'best team spirit' in years

Leeds United are enjoying 'the best team spirit we have had in the last three years' according to Angus Kinnear.

Writing in his programme notes for the Middlesbrough clash, the Whites chief executive paid tribute to some of the club's backroom staff for their role in Leeds' current four-match winning streak, which has included last-gasp wins at Luton Town and Reading over the past week.

"Most of the top team in any league have the ability and habit of regularly claiming the spoils in the final minutes. This is down to a combination of overall dominance, superior fitness and a confidence that the principles that define our game will deliver results if they are adhered to," he writes.

"Our overall play created a with probability of 62 per cent at Luton and 78 per cent at Reading and out superior fitness is evident in all the in-game statistics.

"This is on no small part down to the head of strength conditioning Benoit Delaval, lead nutritionist Nessan Costello and head of facilities Mark Broadley who have collectively redefined the conditioning environment and culture at Thorp Arch.

"The 22-man squad now collectively weigh a full Jamie Shackleton less than they did prior to the new fitness regimes arrival.

"All if this is completed by the best team spirit we have had in the last three years and a belief and patience in our supporters (both home and away) that is critical in driving the team on."

Leeds host Middlesbrough this afternoon looking for their fifth win on the bounce as they look to strengthen their top two space.
