Angus Kinnear's 'leaked' email after play-off defeat promises staff pizza in 'a futile attempt to improve morale'

A 'leaked' email from Angus Kinnear has emerged online, with the Leeds United CEO rallying the club’s staff together following the play-off heartbreak suffered against Derby County, although he expected everyone felt ‘pretty s***’.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side saw their attempts to return to the Premier League come crashing to the ground after a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Derby County in the semi-finals, which leaves Leeds set for another year in the Championship.

It was a massive blow to a side that sat top of the Championship for longer than anyone else this season and spent the majority of the campaign in the top-two, only to be derailed by a significant loss of form in the latter stages of the campaign.

Kinnear rallied the troops on Thursday following the defeat though, with his email to the club’s staff leaked on social media.

Andrea Radrizzani's message to Leeds United fans following play-off exit

“I am sure like me that you feel pretty s*** this morning and it is natural to be down today. However, this no time for self pity. We should all reflect on the great season we have had both on and off the pitch.

“Whilst we have not realised our dream this year we have created the foundations which mean we will ultimately achieve it.

“Leeds United will never do things the easy way and we all know that we will have to achieve our goal with the world against us. This will make our success all the sweeter.

“We will be ordering pizza for lunch at Elland Road in what I accept will be a futile attempt to improve morale.”

Leeds are now awaiting the fixture release date on Thursday June 20th, which will map out next year’s campaign in the Championship.
