Angus Kinnear on how the Thorp Arch summer refurbishments have already helped Leeds United

Leeds United's managing director Angus Kinnear has revealed how the improvements of facilities at Thorp Arch are helping the squad this season.

Marcelo Bielsa is famously a perfectionist and has reportedly had specific demands for improvements at the training facility since he joined the club last summer.

The club has stepped up the renovations over the summer, adding a running track and state of the art sleeping pods.

"Over the summer period we continued to work behind the scenes to build a club with an infrastructure ready for the Premier League," wrote Kinnear in his pre-Swansea programme notes.

"Marcelo has championed the continued improvements at Thorp Arch.

"The swimming pool that had not been filled for years due to lack of funds was reconditioned and reopened and is now already playing a crucial role in speeding up the rehabilitating of our injured players."

Leeds suffered a spate of injuries last season, with almost all of the squad spending times on the sidelines.

This season has started off on a better note, with most of the senior squad available to Bielsa. Absentees Tyler Roberts and Luke Ayling have returned to training and barring any more setbacks, Bielsa could have a full squad after the international break.

"A 1km running track has been installed around the perimeter of the training ground to help the team maintain their astonishing levels of fitness and our camera network has been extended to allow our video analysis team to assess training in real time," he added.

"All of this work has been undertaken with the objective of giving us the marginal gains that will prove decisive by the end of the season."
