Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear says discussions over Marcelo Bielsa's contract will begin on Thursday.
The Whites are celebrating their return to the Premier League and have one final game left this season, against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday evening.
Planning for next season will then swiftly begin and top of the Whites' agenda is to agree a new contract with Bielsa.
The manager's current deal runs out next week and he has previously said he wanted to enjoy the promotion celebrations before discussing a new contract.
Kinnear said the Whites were mindful of wanting to allow Bielsa the opportunity to savour his side's Championship title and then focus on trying to beat Charlton before discussing a new contract.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Kinnear promised that discussions will start swiftly once the season has finished, though.
"After tonight," he said when asked if negotiations had started.
"We wanted Marcelo to enjoy the moment and we're also very conscious that he focusses incredibly diligently on the next match and he wanted to win tonight.
"He wants to honour the competition, then we'll be sitting down and having that conversation.
"I think he loves the club, he believes in the club.
"Hopefully he's not finished here, we very much want him to stay and hopefully we can make that happen."
Kinnear's words echo that of owner Andrea Radrizzani, who said earlier this week he was optimistic of a new deal being agreed.
"We will meet soon," he said.
"We always manage the discussions very nicely and calmly. I’m sure he will like to stay here.
"I’ll be very pleased if he stays to enjoy the Premier League experience next year."
