Angry Tesco shopper outraged after supermarket cancels click and collect order minutes before pick-up

A Tesco shopper has hit out at the supermarket giant after they cancelled a number of click and collect orders at an Ayrshire store.

The Irvine shop suffered 'technical issues' which meant customers had their orders axed suddenly on Thursday morning.

One shopper has blasted the supermarket giant after she was informed her order was cancelled 20 minutes before it was due to be picked up.

The furious mother-of-two had already left home to pick up the order from the Riverway Retail Park store and was informed at the collection point that she wouldn't be receiving her shopping.

Tesco have since apologised for the inconvenience to shoppers.

The shopper, who asked to remain anonymous, told Ayrshire Live: "I drove to Tesco in Irvine to collect my click and collect order to be told it wasn't there.

"The man at the collection point was lovely and informed me that my order was cancelled due to the system being down.

"He wasn't able to advise on the next steps or if my order would be stored which wasn't helpful."

It's not clear how many shoppers had their orders axed at the last minute although it's understood no other stores were affected by the tech issues.

The irked mum was then forced to order a home deliver for the following day but the incident has left her disappointed at the amount of time and money wasted as a result of the glitch.

She added: "I then reordered and paid for a delivery the following day after wasting my time and energy driving 40 minutes to collect it. And not only that, I also had a pay a higher delivery fee for the courtesy.

"I checked my email afterwards and noticed that I was contacted at 8.39am about an order I was collecting at 9am — really not good! I never saw the email but was on my way already.

"I am really angry at the waste of time and money this has caused me as I don't have time left to shop on my busy day hence clicking and collecting. Instead i am getting a takeaway for my children."

A Tesco spokesperson said: "Due to a technical issue with one of our internet providers, we were unable to fulfil a small number of Click & Collect orders at our Irvine Riverway Extra on Thursday.

"We’re really sorry for the inconvenience this caused and the problem has now been fixed."
