Angry NHS worker tells of panic attack over 'nightmare' shopping trip to Morrisons

A terrified customer has spoken of her increasing number of panic attacks following a “nightmare” shopping trip to Morrisons.

Victoria, who did not reveal her full name, suffers from severe anxiety, and she became distressed following a visit to the supermarket in Exeter.

She claims safety measures being implemented outside the store last week, were not being replicated inside the premises, DevonLive reports.

The woman, who is an NHSCovid 111 responder, she said: "The outside seemed fine, they were cleaning the trollies and restricting how many people could go into the shop. However, once I was on the inside it was a completely different story."

The anxious 25-year old said 'almost nobody' was abiding by the Government's social distancing guidelines inside the supermarket. Victoria said: "There are no restrictions in the aisles. 90 per cent of people were careless and did not keep a two-metre distance.

The NHS worker made her way down the toiletries aisle where she stopped to browse for items.

Victoria said: "I noticed people started walking toward me. I got right up against the shelves on one side, they had plenty of room to squeeze past.

"As they got closer they just walked straight passed me and we were basically touching fabrics. I held my breath just in case.

"I then politely asked them to move along and keep their distance. They just turned to each other and burst out laughing."

She says the incident took place next to the customer desk, directly in front of the staff members.

Victoria adds: "I would have thought at least one of the members of staff would have intervened but they didn't.

"With the Government allowing groups of six to meet in a public place, all it is going to take is for someone to walk into a supermarket, contract the virus and then go and meet up with that group. Then that will be the start of it spreading again."

Morrisons has responded to the complaint reassuring Victoria that they are going to look further into the incident.
