Angry Newcastle United fan confronts owner Mike Ashley during meeting on the street

An angry Newcastle United fan approached club owner Mike Ashley on the street after spotting him outside during a meeting at a Pret a Manger cafe.

Instagram user @bigugs_ saw the opportunity while Ashley was speaking with two other people on an outside table.

Ashley, who also owns Sports Direct and Debenhams, is hugely unpopular with some Magpies fans and is seen as a key reason for the club's recent lack of success.

In the video, holding the camera towards Ashley, he says "Mike Ashley, you have ruined my club you know. You have ruined my club. If you don't want the team, just sell us."

He continues: "You have ruined my club. Just sell the club and keep it moving."

Ashley replies by saying "Can you go please" while the man accompanying him attempts to stop the camera from filming while saying "do you mind."

Newcastle have started the season poorly under new boss Steve Bruce.

Ashley was widely criticised for allowing Rafael Benitez to leave Tyneside and Bruce's performance so far has not allayed any of their fears.

Bruce's men drew 0-0 with Brighton at St. James' Park at the weekend, but struggled to keep hold of possession as their new signings are slow to gel.

Record transfer Joelinton has scored only once in his first six appearances, while Miguel Almiron has lost much of his spark from last term.
