Angola have a mountain to climb

If Angola beat Portugal tonight it would arguably be the biggest World Cup upset of all time. Consider first that the teams have met twice before and Portugal won the first game 6-0 and were leading the second 5-1 when it was abandoned with 20 minutes left. Now consider the probable starting line-ups. Angola's will most likely contain two players without a club (the goalkeeper Joao Ricardo has spent the whole season training on his own), four who played last season in Angola, three who were in the Portuguese second division, one who was in Kuwait and one who was in the Portuguese top flight. Portugal's XI on the other hand will feature Barcelona's Deco, Internazionale's Luis Figo and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo among others. Would an Angola win eclipse Senegal's victory over France four years ago? No question about it. Would it be bigger than Cameroon's win against Argentina in 1990, the United States' victory over England in 1950, North Korea's humbling of Italy in 1966, or Algeria's defeat of Germany in 1982? I'll let you decide.
