Angle shows Mohamed Salah was onside for Liverpool goal against Man City

An impressive first-half display saw Liverpool lead 2-0 over Manchester City at Anfield in the crunch Premier League clash.

Fabinho had opened the scoring for Liverpool with a strike from the edge of the area before Mohamed Salah headed home Andrew Robertson well-timed cross.

There was some controversy with both goals with Man City appealing for a penalty after the ball appeared to strike Trent Alexander-Arnold's hand before Fabinho's goal.

Referee Michael Oliver and VAR both disagreed, awarding the goal to Liverpool.

The Premier League confirmed: "The VAR checked the penalty appeal for handball against Trent Alexander-Arnold and confirmed the on-field decision that it did not meet the considerations for a deliberate handball."

The second goal had looked to be possibly offside during the live coverage with Sky Sports co-commentator Gary Neville expecting it to be ruled out.

However VAR checked the goal and it stood as Liverpool doubled their lead.

The Premier League confirmed that the goal had been reviewed, stating: "VAR checked for possible offside, and confirmed that the Salah goal was correct."

A new angle has now emerged which shows that John Stones played Salah onside for the goal.
