Angers vs Arsenal
Venue: Stade Raymond Kopa, Angers, France
Kick-off time: 6:30pm BST
Date: Wednesday, July 31, 2019
Unai Emery has tactical questions to answer before the new season begins as Arsenal face Angers in another pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners head to France fresh off the back of a dispiriting 2-1 Emirates Cup defeat at home to Lyon, with a Moussa Dembele brace once again highlighting weaknesses in Emery's defence.
There is better news in the transfer window with Arsenal edging closer to a £72million deal for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, but Emery must solve problems further back on the pitch if the Gunners are going to enjoy a successful season.
Here's what you need to know...
Arsenal predicted lineup and team news
Alexandre Lacazette came off early against Lyon with an ankle injury and will likely miss out vs Angers, but is expected to make a swift return to action.
Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac missed the Lyon clash after being targeted by armed robbers in London on Thursday, and Emery is keen not to rush the pair back too quickly after the traumatising incident.
Laurent Koscielny remains unavailable as he pushes for a move back to France, with Emery having seemingly washed his hands of the centre-back after the club captain refused to go on Arsenal's pre-season tour of the USA.
Dani Ceballos made his debut off the bench against Lyon, and the Real Madrid loanee could make his first start on Wednesday.
Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Ceballos, Willock, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Nketiah
Prediction: Angers 1-3 Arsenal
Angers finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season and, in theory, shouldn't prevent Arsenal from picking up another pre-season win.
The Gunners will still have problems at the back for as long as they are unable to strengthen that defence, but they easily possess enough attacking flair to win in France.
