Despite that loss, spirits appear to be high among Arsenal fans, with the arrivals of Martinelli, Dani Ceballos and William Saliba set to be followed by a club-record deal for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
That transfer is expected to be wrapped up by the weekend, when Arsenal face Barcelona in the 54th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy.
