Anger over 'incredibly inefficient service' for people travelling from Bristol to see Elton John at Cardiff City Stadium

Train timings on the night of Elton John's upcoming gig in Cardiff have sparked anger for one concert-goer.

Philip Davies pointed out that the last train back to Bristol from the singer's Cardiff City Stadium show on June 15 leaves at 10.47pm.

The concert is expected to finish after 11pm, and Mr Davies is concerned that those in attendance will not make the last train.

And that train will go from Cardiff Central station, more than a mile away from the venue.

Mr Davies says the timing of the train will "force everyone living in England onto the roads".

He added: "This represents an incredibly inefficient service."

Tickets for the 33,000-capacity venue are sold out.

A Great Western Railway spokesman said: "With the availability of trains, and pre-planned engineering works taking place on the line between Cardiff and Newport, the only way we could provide extra late night services would be by cancelling early morning services the following day.”
