Anger over Hungary 'slave law' rages on

Anger over Hungary 'slave law' rages on

Thousands of people have been demonstrating in Hungary over the past week in protest against changes to employment rights and pay.

The new legislation, which the opposition is calling the "slave law", allows companies to demand more overtime from their employees.

Hungary's government said the law is necessary because the country is a victim of its own success, with a shortage of skilled labour caused by near-full employment, but some experts have said the law may exacerbate the problem by driving young workers abroad to do the same work for higher wages.

Al Jazeera's Robin Forestier Walker reports from Budapest.
