THE Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been criticised for sharing England football "propaganda" during the team's World Cup campaign.
Ahead of England's quarterfinal against Norway on Saturday, the MoD shared a video of members of the armed forces expressing their support for Thomas Tuchel's side.
The clip sees a sailor looking out to spot a "football related threat" from the Norwegians who are "doing the row" before his colleague orders him to "deploy counter measures".
Various members of the Army, Navy and Air Force around the world are then seen singing lines of the chorus from the Oasis hit Wonderwall, which has become an England anthem during the tournament.
The clip was accompanied by a message on Twitter/X from the MoD saying: "Norway may row. But England roars. Good luck tonight team, from our Armed Forces around the world!"
But Scots on social media have hit out at the video, with some suggesting the department should not be publicly supporting England over other nations of the UK.
Sharing the clip, pro-independence news site Bella Caledonia posted on Twitter/X: "Wow. The 'English Army'. Propaganda from the MOD. Some union eh."

Blair Kaylor also posted on the site: "They call it a union, but if Scotland or Wales were in a World Cup quarterfinal tonight then there’s absolutely no chance the MOD posts something like this, or anything at all."
Another user commented: "They pretend its a union, but every now and again the mask slips."
Paul Kelly added: "Erm, you do realise the armed forces are British, and not English?"
A video of members of the armed forces wishing both England and Scotland good luck in tournament was shared by the Armed Forces Day account on Twitter/X ahead of the World Cup starting.
England made it through to the semi-finals of the World Cup after beating Norway 2-1 in extra time, with both England's goals scored by Jude Bellingham.
They will play Argentina for a place in the final on Wednesday night after the South American side saw off Switzerland 3-1 in extra time.
Keir Starmer has already hinted there could be an extra bank holiday for England if the team manage to win the tournament for a second time.
It comes after SNP MP Lara Bird faced abuse for declaring she did not support England in their last-16 tie against Mexico despite having an English parent.
France and Spain will face off in the other semi-final on Tuesday night.
