Anger as child in pram pushed across frozen pond in Scots park

Parents have been blasted after taking a pram on the frozen pond of a park near Glasgow.

Outraged onlookers said they were “mind blown” by the scene at Rouken Glen Park in East Renfrewshire.

A park goer contacted the Daily Record with concern for the safety children playing on the ice and provided footage of an adult pushing a pram across the pond.

The man said: “Today I witnessed parents at Rouken Glen Park letting kids play on the frozen pond.

“I even saw infants in prams being pushed around in the centre.

“This is mind blowing, why they would risk their lives by doing this?

“Why would they put peoples’ lives at risk should they need saving?”

Police have been warning about the danger of walking on the ice, as many took to the parks in the freezing conditions.

In a statement Police Scotland said: “Going onto frozen water is extremely dangerous. You can’t tell how thick the ice is. Please stay safe near water this winter and don’t put yourself, your children or your pets at risk. #StayOffTheIce.”
