Anger after thieves trash Arniston Rangers' changing rooms and offices

A Midlothian junior football club's changing rooms and offices have been damaged after thieves broke into their pavillion.

Arniston Rangers FC were targeted on Monday night by thieves who forced their way into the building at Newbyres Park, Gorebridge.

A small amount of cash, alcohol and a hoover were taken, but the raid left a huge mess for the club's volunteers to clean up.

Cupboards and drawers were ransacked, with items left strewn all over the floor of the changing room and committee room.

The club posted pictures of the building on Facebook on Tuesday, saying "ig thanks to whoever broke in and trashed our pavilion last night, there wasn’t anything of value to take but plenty of mess and damage left behind."

The pictures prompted outrage from locals.

One person said the damage was "absolutely despicable" while another said it was "bloody awful."

A comment said: "It’s hard enough running a team without set backs like this."
