Anger after discovery of dirty needles where kids ride their bikes in Craigneuk

A number of needles and other drug paraphernalia have been discovered yards from where children ride their bikes in Craigneuk.

The discovery of the dirty needles near the Wishawhill Wood pump track has caused widespread anger among parents and locals.

The alarm was raised by concerned local resident Lesley Staniard who posted a number of pictures on Facebook after her son and his cousin had discovered them.

She added: “It’s absolutely disgusting that this is so close to where young kids are freely playing, leaving them at serious risk.

“The boys had the sense to phone the police who have arranged for the council team to collect and dispose.

“I know addiction is an illness and people have their demons, but why bring this to a public area where kids play and jeopardise their safety and well-being?

“Keep it in the confines of their own house if they really need to be doing this.”

A council spokesperson confirmed to the Wishaw Press that a grounds maintenance team were sent to the track to clear the items up.
