AT THE PLATE: The top hitters in the Angels' batting order, third baseman Yunel Escobar and Daniel Nava, each reached base twice. Escobar singled both times; Nava doubled and walked. Mike Trout drove him in with a single. ... Albert Pujols singled. ... The Angels struck out only twice during the game at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
ON THE MOUND: Left-hander Andrew Heaney made his first start and pitched two scoreless innings. He missed his first scheduled outing because of an illness. "I feel good," he said. "I have energy. I am not dying. It's great." He struck out one, walked one and gave up two hits. ... Closer Huston Street made his spring debut and gave up two hits and a walk. ... Right-handers Fernando Salas, Cam Bedrosian, Ramon Ramirez and A.J. Achter each threw scoreless innings. ... Left-hander Lucas Luetge, who has an outside shot at making the team, gave up a three-run home run.
EXTRA BASES: Trout stole his second base of the spring. ... Street picked Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed off third base in the third inning. ... Catcher Carlos Perez threw away an attempted pickoff. ... Johnny Giavotella was picked off second base in the bottom of the third. ... Heaney said he was not assuming he had earned a place in the rotation, although he seems a lock. "I feel like they know what I can do, but I don't think that means I have a spot, necessarily," Heaney said. "That they know what I'm able to do gives me some comfort in getting my feet on the ground, getting a good base and knowing that I can work on things and not feel like I'm constantly under the microscope."
