Angelo Alessio thanks Kilmarnock fans after leaving Rugby Park side

Angelo Alessio has thanked Kilmarnock fans in the wake of his sacking this week.

The Italian boss was appointed just six months ago, and after 22 games he was relieved of his duties.

He left Rugby Park for the final time yesterday, and he took to social media to thank the Ayrshire side's fans for their support.

He said on Instagram: "Thanks to the fans for supporting me.

"Wish Kilmarnock Football Club all the best #Killie."

Following his sacking, a Kilmarnock statement said: "The Kilmarnock Football Club Limited can today announce that Angelo Alessio has been relieved of his position as manager.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Angelo for his efforts during his time with Kilmarnock and we wish him every success for the future.

"Alex Dyer will take charge of first-team duties on an interim basis.

"We will provide a further update for supporters in due course."
