Angelo Alessio sends message to Kilmarnock stars after Stuart Findlay Scotland call up

Angelo Alessio hopes Stuart Findlay's call up will open the door to the Scotland squad for even more of his Kilmarnock players.

A growing number Killie players have been given international recognition over the past 18 months.

Stephen O'Donnell, Eamonn Brophy and Greg Taylor, who is now at Celtic, have all won caps while at Kilmarnock .

Now Findlay has been called into the squad to face Russia and San Marino in the Euro 2020 qualifiers next week following Liam Cooper's withdrawal through injury.

The uncapped centre-back, who was called up in March but did not play.

And Alessio said: "He deserves this. He works hard, he is a good guy and a good player for the team and for me.

"It's very important because we have good players and for this reason they stay in the national team.

"We have to work and grow other players and get others in the national team."
