Angelina Jolie to guest edit Woman's Hour on Radio Four

Angelina Jolie will be a guest editor on Women’s Hour on BBC Radio Four.

Jolie, a United Nations special envoy who was appointed a visiting professor at the London School of Economics last month, will explore the refugee crisis in her show.

The edition will be aired on 17 June and Jolie will examine sexual violence in conflict and women’s health.

Jolie’s appearance is part of the Woman's Hour Takeover, which will run from 13 to 17 June and feature five guest editors.

Mary Berry, the food writer and co-host of The Great British Bake Off, will appear alongside Jolie, exploring the legacy of the Girl Guides, gardening as therapy, and bee-keeping.

Scottish poet laureate, Jackie Kay, England and Chelsea footballer, Eniola Aluko, and Professor, Sunetra Gupta, will also appear on the programme.

Kay will explore how writers are responding to the stories of refugees, what it is like living with a skin condition and more.

This is the third year which Woman’s Hour have decided to invite guest editors to take over the programme. In the past, previous guests have included Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, mother of the murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, Doreen Lauwrence, children’s author, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, and actress, Kim Cattrall.
