Angelina Jolie solves issue for deaf actress Lauren Ridloff on the set of new Marvel movie

Angelina Jolie and Lauren Ridloff appeared on Lorraine on Thursday morning to promote the newest Marvel movie The Eternals which premiered in London last night (October 27).

Actor Lauren Ridloff, who was born deaf to hearing parents, plays the first ever onscreen deaf superhero in the movie.

Speaking to presenter Christine Lampard this morning, she revealed how co-star Angelina solved one of the hugest problems for her on set.

Using sign language, interpreted by an translator to enable viewers to understand, Lauren said: "I knew that there would be a lot of problem solving and opportunities while we were shooting.

"I was talking with Angelina about my frustrations about not knowing when I was supposed to turn because I couldn't see and there weren't any opportunities for visual cues or for Chloe [Chloe Zhao the Director] to tell everybody 'Action'.

"It was through this conversation I had with Angelina and using a laser-pen that ever since I'm so thankful to Angelina because now I incorporate that into my daily arsenal on set on other projects that I work on. I just hope other deaf actors can use that technology."

Lauren has two young sons and told Christine what playing this role means to her as a mother to be in the movie.

Angelina Jolie attended the premiere in London with five of her six children and said: "When you accept a Marvel movie you don't see the script. But they explained to me what this family would be and how diverse and inclusive it would be. We look and feel different to a superhero group.

"My character struggles with mental health, and it some ways, we're the most human and we more appropriately represent the world we live in."

The Eternals is the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars a number of big names including: Gemma Chan, Richard Madden (from Bodyguard), Kit Harington and Salma Hayek as well as Jolie and Ridloff who play the characters Thena and Makkari.

The movie's official synopsis reads: "Marvel Studios' Eternals features an exciting new team of Super-Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame , an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, the Deviants."

Looks like one to add to the list.

The Eternals is out in cinemas from November 5.
