Angelina Jolie says playing a ‘broken person’ was ‘very healing’ amid Brad Pitt divorce

Angelina Jolie has claimed that her recent movie role has proved to be a "very healing" experience, as her divorce from Brad Pitt continues in court.

The 45-year-old actress has said that playing a "broken person" in her upcoming film, Those Who Wish Me Dead, has been therapeutic as she could identify with the trauma that her character had suffered.

Speaking in a behind-the-scenes video, Angelina revealed how she had connected with her character and how it had helped her away from the set.

Ange said: "I am drawn to people who have been through something and are broken and then find their way forward and overcome it.

“As an artist, it’s very healing to play people like that. She’s been very healing for me because you just get so broken and then you stand back up.”

Angelina plays Hannah Faber in the film and she described her character as "a very broken person who carries a great deal of guilt.”

Her character battles PTSD and is blaming herself for a tragedy that happened at work.

She then vows to protect a 12-year-old boy (played by Finn Little) from hitmen after the youngster witnesses a murder.

Speaking about the film, Angelina said: “On its surface, it feels like a great thriller, a great adventure across an unusual terrain inside a great fire.

"Underneath it, it’s a really emotional film. It’s about people who have a great impact on each other and change each other. Emotionally and practically, they go through the fire.”

Last month, Angelina spoke out to British Vogue about her divorce from Brad Pitt, after they split in September 2016.

She told the publication: "The past few years have been pretty hard. I’ve been focusing on healing our family. It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”

Ange said that she is working towards reaching her happy place, confessing: "I’m not there yet. But I hope to be. I’m planning on it.”

With their divorce proceedings ongoing, 57-year-old Brad and Angelina were declared legally single in April 2019.
