Angelina Jolie today celebrates her 45th birthday as a single woman after her painful split from Brad Pitt in 2016.
The pair were seemingly finally getting their friendship back on track before Brad sparked fresh romance rumours with his ex-wife Jennifer Anison - who he denied cheating on when he first got together with Ange on the set of Mr And Mrs Smith.
The exes set the rumour mill alight earlier this year when they were pictured hugging and laughing backstage at the SAG Awards in January, with Brad congratulating Jennifer on her Best Actress gong.
But, nearly six months later, there doesn't seem to be much hope of that fated romantic reunion.
Angelina and Brad reportedly came face-to-face last month to celebrate their daughter Shiloh's 14th birthday at his LA mansion, where he also met up with estranged son Maddox.
Brad and Maddox had a rocky relationship during his adopted son's teenage years, and an incident onboard a private jet between them was believed to be the final straw for Angelina before she filed for divorce.
A source told the Sun last week: "Brad really wanted to make Shiloh's day special and had been planning it for a while, he can't believe how grown up she is.
"He has an expensive pizza oven at his house and made her favorite dish for the party, while also celebrating with a cake."
Shiloh's siblings, 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne,Zahara, 15, and Pax, 16 - as well as Maddox - were also believed to be in attendance at the party.
But while they acted like a happy family once again, behind the scenes Angelina still nurses many emotional wounds from her and Brad's bitter split.
In October 2019 she spoke for the first time about the hurt their divorce had caused her, admitting it had even sparked some health problems.
She told French magazine Madame: "I felt a deep and genuine sadness, I was hurt. On the other hand, it was interesting to reconnect with this humility and even this insignificance I was feeling. Maybe this is what being human is in the end...
"On top of all this, I suffered some health issues. All these things settle in you and remind you of how lucky you are of being alive."
She added that her marriage had made her 'lose herself', saying: "I don't know what my fate holds but what I am convinced of is that I am in a period of transition, like a return to my roots, a return to myself.
"Because, I had lost myself a bit. I think it happened as my relationship with Brad was coming to an end, then at the beginning of our separation. It was a complicated moment, where I didn't recognise myself anymore, where I had become ... how can I say ... smaller, almost insignificant, even if it wasn't necessarily visible."
Angelina is yet to find love nearly four years after their split, while Brad has been linked to a number of women, including actress Alia Shawkat - although he claims their relationship is nothing more than platonic.
