Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayak stun passengers on commercial flight in Mexico City

Movie fans were forced to do a double-take after spotting Hollywood A-listers Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek among a crowd of travellers waiting to board a commercial flight in Mexico City.

The two Oscar-winning actresses, who struck up a close friendship after co-starring in Marvel’s Eternals in 2021, were seen in TikTok videos looking happy and relaxed as they chatted with fellow passengers en route to Veracruz.

As the clips soon spread online, their presence together sparked speculation that they could be working on a new film project together.

Many also took to the comments section on the account the clips were posted on to praise their down-to-earth approach to travel despite both having millions in the bank.

"I love that they are humble enough to still fly commercial when both are with a lot of money,” remarked one person.

"Commendable in some way that they are flying commercial given that Salma's husband is one of the richest people on the planet,” agreed another.

Jolie has previously opened up about her special bond with Hayek, whom she calls her “sister”.

"I love Salma. She's one of the greatest gifts that came with this movie," she told Mexican talk show Ventaneando.

"We've both been in the business a long time and hadn't met — probably because I'm not very social.

"But now, we're very close. She's my sister. She's brilliant, kind, and wonderful."

Following the release of Eternals, she was also snapped attending Hayek’s birthday celebrations in which she participated in Mexico's unique "mordida" tradition, where the birthday guest takes a bite of cake and usually ends up with it on their face.

"Yes, I was there. You guys have some very unusual traditions in Mexico," Jolie later said. "It was a little hard for me at first, but now I feel like I owe her one for my birthday."

Jolie is set to appear at the 50th edition of the Toronto Film Festival in September for the premiere of new film Couture.

The drama, which was previously titled Stitches, is directed by French director Alice Winocour.

It will see her play a film-maker arriving in Paris for fashion week and also star Ella Rumpf, Louis Garrel, Anyier Anei, Garance Marillier and Finnegan Oldfield.
