Angela Wrightson: Two teenage girls convicted of murder

Two teenage girls have been convicted of murdering Angela Wrightson.

The 39-year-old woman was found dead in the living room of her County Durham home in December 2014.

The property was reportedly blood stained and examinations found that Ms Wrightson had sustained more than 100 injuries. The attack was described in court as "sustained and brutal" and as taking place over a prolonged period.

A jury at Leeds Crown Court convicted the two girls, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The girls were aged 13 and 14 at the time of the attack.

During the trial, the court heard that the girls used a variety of weapons to kill Ms Wrightson including a coffee table and computer printer.
