Angela named as a top social enterprise entrepreneur

West Lothian social entrepreneur, Angela Moohan, who is the chief executive of The Larder, has been named as one of the UK’s top 100 women social entrepreneurs by NatWest bank.

Angela set up The Larder as a training organisation that uses food to help young people build their confidence, develop skills and a career.

The Larder has gone on to successfully train hundreds of young people who now work in the retail, food and hospitality sector.

During the Covid-19 pandemic the organisation adapted its food insecurity programme, to deliver over 130,000 good quality, nutritious meals to those in need.

This was a lifeline for people who were shielding, the elderly and the most disadvantaged in our communities.

Angela’s drive and determination for social change will now see The Larder combining its training and enterprising approach with its vision of campaigning for the structural change necessary to eradicate poverty and food insecurity.

Angela said: “I see the recognition from NatWest as an endorsement of the full Larder team who have been magnificent.

“They have all contributed to ensuring The Larder is recognised for our high quality training provision and our mission to eradicate poverty and food insecurity. As an organisation we will continue to innovate so we can deliver for the communities we serve but also campaign for a society free of inequality and hunger.”
