Angela Merkel seen shaking uncontrollably for the second time in ten days amid warnings that hot weather carries health risks

Angela Merkel was again seen shaking uncontrollably today as she waited to meet the German president.

Close-up footage shows the German chancellor with her arms squeezed around herself in an effort to stop herself from rattling.

The display becomes increasingly uncomfortable to watch as the 64 year-old focuses her eyes onto the ground and purses her lips in a strain to keep it together.

There have been growing concerns for the well-known politician's health after she was seen violently shivering at a June 18 ceremony in Berlin, Mirror Online reports .

When asked about the footage at the time, which appeared more severe than today, she insisted she was just dehydrated.

She said: "Since then I have drunk at least three glasses of water - I obviously needed that and so I'm doing very well now."

But in today's footage of her alongside German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the chancellor rejects the offer of a glass of water when an aide dashes to her side.

Asked if the chancellor would be fit to meet Japan at a G20 gathering this weekend, a spokesman said: "Everything is taking place as planned. The chancellor is well."

Germany is currently bathing in a heatwave that has engulfed the European continent, with experts suggesting the country could soon set new temperature records for the June month.

The hot weather is sizzling Britain today with temperatures expected to hit 31 degrees in parts of the country, but emergency services have urged caution - including making sure you drink plenty of water.
