Angela Merkel insists she is 'fine' after appearing unsteady and shaking during public events

Angela Merkel has insisted she is "fine" after appearing unsteady and shaking during public events.

The German Chancellor said she understood reporters' questions surrounding her health after two incidents this month, but that there was nothing to worry about.

Speaking at the end of the G20 summit in Japan, Ms Merkel said: "I'm convinced, just as this reaction occurred, it will go away again."

The 64-year-old, who has been the German leader since 2005, appeared unsteady and was seen shaking at a ceremony in Berlin on Thursday.

In another incident last week, Merkel's whole body shook as she stood outside in hot weather alongside Ukraine's president.

Merkel said afterwards that she was fine after drinking three glasses of water, which she "apparently needed."

Her spokesman, Steffen Seibert, told news agency dpa ahead of the G20 summit that "everything is going ahead as planned".
