Angel Studios, the company behind the successful child trafficking movie 'Sound of Freedom,' is revolutionizing the film industry with its unique crowdfunding model. By allowing audiences to have a say in the movies that get made, Angel Studios is challenging the traditional gatekeeper system that has long dictated what films make it to the big screen.

With 'Sound of Freedom' grossing over $250 million globally and becoming one of the top 10 films domestically, Angel Studios proved the power of its approach. The film was funded in just a week through crowdfunding, showcasing the strong support from audiences. Additionally, the company introduced a 'pay-it-forward' model during the film's theatrical run, enabling ticket buyers to purchase tickets for strangers and resulting in nearly 2 million additional viewers experiencing the movie.

In its inaugural year of releasing movies in 2023, Angel Studios raked in over $300 million worldwide. Over 100,000 individuals from 155 countries have collectively invested close to $80 million in the projects released by the studio, including the recent film 'Cabrini.'

Looking ahead, Angel Studios has an exciting lineup of new releases planned for this year. 'Sight,' a drama starring Greg Kinnear and Terry Chin based on the true story of Dr. Ming Wang's efforts to restore a blind child's vision, is set to premiere on Memorial Day. On the Fourth of July, audiences can anticipate 'Possum Trot,' executive produced by and starring Letitia Wright, inspired by the heartwarming true story of 22 families in East Texas who adopted 77 foster children.

Other upcoming projects include 'Bonhoeffer,' a film about the anti-Nazi pastor who co-founded the Confessing Church and perished in a concentration camp, and 'Homestead,' a post-apocalyptic survival drama featuring Neal McDonough, scheduled for release at Christmas. Lastly, 'David,' an animated movie based on a biblical story, is slated for Thanksgiving 2025.
