Angel Reese may be the “Bayou Barbie” nationally, but she says she goes by another name before anything.
On Wednesday, the LSU Lady Tigers played Coppin State University in West Baltimore, a homecoming for Baltimore native Angel Reese, during the first-ever sold-out basketball game for the university. Fittingly, Reese and LSU cruised to their twelfth victory of the season.
The forward had a 26-point and six-rebound performance, but that wasn’t her main focus. It was showing up for the city of Baltimore, an opportunity she told local media meant the chance to be a leader for the children who look up to her and to pay homage to the city that raised her.
Reese says before she was nationally known as the “Bayou Barbie,” she was the “Baltimore Barbie” first.
"I know I have a great representation not just in Baltimore, but in the world so coming back here this is my home first. I'm the Baltimore Barbie before I'm the Bayou Barbie."
