Angel Rangel's first words after signing a one-year contract with QPR

Former Swansea City defender Angel Rangel has returned to Queens Park Rangers, signing a one-year contract with the club.

The 36-year-old spent last season with the R's, making 20 appearances for the club after joining last August, with the defender netting twice during his time in west London.

And now, he has put pen to paper on a new deal today (Friday), to become the latest player to sign for Mark Warburton's side, following on from the arrivals of Luke Amos on loan from Tottenham, and Yoann Barbet on a free transfer, among others.

Rangel said: "It feels great to be back - I'm very happy," he told QPR's club website .

"I had such a fantastic time here last season. QPR tick all the boxes for me. There's such a great group of lads in the dressing room, the environment is very positive and I wanted to have the connection that I had with the supporters again.

"The new manager has come in with a new philosophy on football - a style that I was used to for many years at Swansea as we went from League One to the Premier League. I've always enjoyed playing that way and, all things considered, the decision to come back here was a very easy one."

Meanwhile, QPR boss Mark Warburton said he feels Rangel's experience will prove "invaluable" for the R's, adding that it is important to get the balance right between youthful exuberance with hunger and desire, and senior players with experience and knowledge.

"You want them to speak to and advise players, to get into them when they have to," he said.

"Players like Angel understand when to do that, what to do and why to do it. I'm delighted to have him back on board because I think he'll be a real benefit to us."
